Photo Assignment #2, Kraus


University of Maryland graduate student Jacques De Beer is researching wildland fires for his Ph.D. program. He recently earned his master's degree in fire protection engineering.


Jacques De Beer is the former president of the University of Maryland club field hockey team. He first began playing field hockey in Pretoria, South Africa where he was born.


 Jacques De Beer drives to get dinner after a long day in his research lab.


Jacques De Beer studied chemical engineering as an undergraduate student in South Africa. He came to the United States to further his education in the University of Maryland's Department of Fire Protection Engineering.


When not in the labs, Jacques De Beer spends his time playing electric guitar. Music is his escape from the stress of daily research and experiments.
