Carmen Zdanis, my 19-year-old roommate and dear friend, sits at her desk with a cup of coffee in Montgomery Hall. She is a sophomore at the University of Maryland studying animal science.
Carmen works on homework under the light of her desk lamp. She hopes to achieve her lifelong goal of becoming a veterinarian.
In between her hours long study sessions, Carmen still finds time to joke around with her roommates at the end of the day. Here she laughs at her friend's joke.
Carmen, an aficionado of all things vintage, adjusts her Converse shoe before heading to class. Every year, her mom gifts her a new pair of Converse as a tradition.
Carmen fixes her hair in the mirror early in the morning on Feb. 14. She says she likes to take some extra time on Valentine's Day to dress up.
