Glenn, Assignment #4

 

My friend York looks down at his phone, while watching the 2026 Winter Olympic hockey games on Friday, Feb. 20. This photo was taken in our math class in a ESJ lecture hall. The light in the room is standard, but it is coming from light beams and rods above. 

Snowfall comes down in Southeast, Washington, D.C., on Sunday night. The sky is cloudy as snow accumlation developed. The night time crime lights at Randle Highlands Elementary School lit up the ground and the street lights capture the flakes as they fell. 

My Grandma operates her sowing machine on Friday, Feb. 20. Natural sunlight is coming from the street, and shined on the plants hung up. Light is also produced on her hands from the work space section of the machine, as she operated on a piece of cloth. 

The sun sets on Washington, D.C., on Friday, Feb. 20. In the distance is the U.S. Capitol and peaking behind an empty tree is the Washington Monument. 

Donaldson, Assignment #4

I took a few pictures of my dorm room and while I was home to get different aspects of lighting. 
*My camera has a weird setting so it saved my images as grainy 

Here, I went to the ground floor of my residence hall (after it rained) and got a picture of the light reflecting off the ground. I think it's really cool and being so low you can see the texture of the road. 

This is an image I took, while I was home. The sun was setting and it reflected through my blinds onto shelving in my room. I think it really brought out the colors in the picture frame. 

For the coke bottle, I took an LED light from my lamp and placed it into different spots to create shadow. I think it turned out really good and demonstrated different light aspects. 

Here's an image I took of some flowers that I have on my windowsill. I have colored LED lights surrounding my window, and they were reflecting onto the flowers. The photo came out a little blurry, but I like how you can see the different shades of color and how the light reflects off the white flower. 

While I was home, I took a picture of our guest room and the sun setting through the blinds. Again, I think it looks nostalgic, and cool lighting :)

Lilac lit flowers

Different lights hit the flowers to create shadows and also colored the leftmost flowers purple. 

Effect of fairy lights

I thought the way the golden fairy lights reflected on the wall was sharp. I also like how it is focused on one strand and the lights get more dense as your eye moves left. 

Golden hour in College Park

I liked the contrast of this photo with the darkness of my room and looking out onto the other dorm during golden hour. I also thought that the light not hitting the full building looked more interesting. 

Shining through the perfume

I thought the way that the light from my vanity mirror shined through to my perfume bottle made for an interesting photo.
