Photo Assignment #2 - Roque Blanco

Rafael Rodriguez migrated to the United States as a 17-year-old boy due to the inability to climb up the social ladder in Central American countries. He got his beginning at Northwestern High School and after years of community college and fighting with federal aid, he was finally accepted to the University of Maryland. While he has been able to paint murals locally, he does individual pieces that touch on social and economic issues in Central America. While not all his amazing paintings are featured here, this piece features a woman who represents Central America as consumable, whether its people, labor, or resources are consumed.
