Camera Kit Torrence Banks
With a budget of $15,000, you will need to build your own photography kit. Kits must include 2 camera bodies by the same company, 2 lenses, a tripod or monopod, photo backpack or carrying case and memory cards. The rest of your kit is up to you. Post your “shopping list” to the class blog before the start of class on April 5th.
Photographer Type: News Photographer/Photojournalist
My total: $13,405.92
Camera Bodies:
-Cannon EOS R Mirrorless ($1,399) - This camera produces high-quality photos and video. It has really good and reliable autofocus (There was a video that I saw where the guy moved around and then put his face close to the camera. He described it as cinema-like.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WB3RE3oEn9A

I feel like the learning curve for a Cannon vs. other models will be easier for me.
Through the videos that I watched of the test of the Cannon R5, R6, and R, there was not much image difference in the image quality. Much of those differences can be made up when editing (like lighting differences.)
-Electronic stabilizer in this camera helps when shooting video or taking photos without a tripod or monopod. This is not the same for the Mark III. From the reviews that I’ve watched, people are saying that this camera is best for video, and photos can also be taken on it.
Flaws: The shutter speed on this camera is not as great. Only shoots at 8fps.
-Canon EOS-1D X Mark III $6499.99 - I think that this would probably be my primary camera. It would be the one that I use for events that would require quicker photos to be taken (like for sports or rallies).

Lenses:
Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM Lens $1999
-Weather resistant, can be used in just about all conditions
-Providing greater control over depth of field (makes it easier to blur background) and low light performance.
-” An Optical Image Stabilizer helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to 3.5 shutter speed stops to better enable working in low-light conditions and with slower shutter speeds.”
-Good for sports, portraits, and headshots.
-Zoom is really good, allows you to show the audience exactly what you want them to see.
Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Lens $1,699
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/843008-USA/Canon_5175B002_EF_24_70mm_f_2_8L_II.html/overview

-Great in different lighting conditions and it provides greater control over depth of field.
-Weather sealed
-” Zoom lock lever secures the zoom position at the wide end to maintain a compact form factor and protect the lens when not in use.”
Tripod or Monopod: Monopod, - 3-legged Thing Punks Trent Monopod $89.99
-I feel like this would be easier to move around with than a tripod. This is really important in events like rallies or sporting events. It’s free-standing, so it’s easy to give your arms a rest when needed.
-Maximum Height: 79.5 inches
-Minimum Height: 23.8 inches
-Closed Length: 25.8 inches
